8th World Maccabiad
Open in Tel Aviv in 1969

TEL AVIV (ZINS) — Over 1,200
Jewish athletes from all parts of
the world will participate in the
8th Maccabiad which is scheduled
to open here July 21, 1969, accord-
ing to an announcement by the
Maccabi world organization.
In keeping with tradition, es-
pecially on this occasion, the Mac-
cabiad will symbolize the ingath-
ering of Jewish youth from all cor-
ners of the Diaspora, and hopes are
entertained that many of the par-
ticipating athletes will decide to
remain in the country.
It is expected that the Macca-
biad games will draw a vast num-
ber of tourists. The games will last
seven days and will be held consec-
utively in different parts of the
country.
