A salute to the courageous builders and defenders of

S
RAEL
THE MEMBERS OF HISTADRUT

Israel's victory has brought new responsibilities to Histadrut

!

Israel's growing population needs many more —

Hospitals and clinics
Vocational schools and scholarships for the young
Youth clubs and sports facilities
Educational villages for children of broken homes
Residential communities for the elderly and retired
Religious facilities for the observant
Cultural centers for the entire population

VOCATIONAL TRAINING of young and old, new immi-
grants and native-born, Jew and Arob, is provided by
Histadrut through various programs, notably its network
of AMAL technical high schools. Tens of thousands of
AMAL graduates are filling essential posts in the private,
cooperative and government industries of Israel's modern
economy.

Americans desiring to strengthen these health,
educational and welfare programs which make
Israel the shining democracy of the Middle East

and one of the most effective in the world, are
invited to contribute.

MEDICAL CARE for 2,000,000 Jews and Arabs-7296

of Israel's entire population—is provided by Histadrut's
countrywide health system, KUPAT HOLIM, which main-
tains 14 hospitals, 1,022 clinics, 227 pharmacies, 122
laboratories, 53 physical therapy institutes, 181 mother
and child welfare stations, and related health units.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING are fostered through

Histadrut's Afro-Asian Institute in Tel Aviv. Bonds of
friendship with the emerging notions of Asia and Africa
ore forged on the exchange of ideas. The Institute has
graduated over 1,000 labor and government leaders from
60 countries who have gained ideas and experience that
will help them help their own people.
