Yohanan Twersky, 67;
Israeli Author-Editor

TEL AVIV - Yohanan Twersky,
Israeli author, editor and educator,
died here Tuesday at age 67. Mr.
Twersky, who was noted for his
historical novels, won the Lamed
Literary Prize in the United States
in 1945. He was editor of the Dvir
Publishing Houses here and of
Hahinukh, review of educational
psychology. Born in Berlin, he was
educated at the Philosophical and
Religious Academy there and at
Harvard University, He settled in
Palestine in 1947.

Rose Bakerman, 79

Rose Bakerman, active in
women's clubs, died Nov. 22 at
age 79.
Mrs. Bakerman, 16240 W. 12
Mile, Southfield, was born in Sioux
City, Ia., and was a 40-year resi-
dent of Detroit.
She was a member of Temple
Beth El, Beth El Sisterhood,
Temple Israel and Marshall Chap-
ter, Bnai Brith.
She leaves a son, Jacque; a
daughter, Mrs. Herman (Destine)
Kyff; two brothers, Adolph and
Ira Szold of Peoria, Ill.; four
grandchildren and one great-grand-
child.

Historians' Parley

The background and role of eth-
nic, religious and minority group
historical societies in the United
States will be examined and as-
sessed at the annual meeting of the
American Historical Association to
be held in Toronto. Sponsored by
the association and the American
Jewish Historical Society, the joint
session will feature papers by Ru-
dolph J. Vecoli of the University
of Minnesota, and Walter Muir
Whitehill of the Boston Athen-
aeum.
