Norma Hudosh is Israel Bond chair-
man of the women's council. Twen-
ty-five lodges and 25 chapters are
participating in the program.
Pisgah Lodge and Chapter will
host a Hanuka festival for Israel
to honor the modern Maccabees of
Israel 8:30 p.m. Dec. 11 at Cong.
Ahavas Achim. Marshall Lodge and
Chapter will be the hosts 8:30 p.m.
Dec. 12, also at Ahavas Achim.
Other lodges and chapters will be
the co-sponsors.
Lew Norman, comedian, actor
and master of ceremonies, will
head the program of entertain-
ment at the two affairs. Norman
has appeared on the Ed Sulli-
van Show, Tonight show and on
leading radio programs. He has
starred in night clubs and thea-
ters, in the United States and
Canada. An added feature will
be music by Eric Rosenow and
his Continentals.
The goal of the 1967-68 Bnai
Brith campaign is an Israel Bond
purchased by every Bnai Brith
family, said Schott.

Maurice Rosender, Leon Weberman
and Carmi Slomovitz.

Twenty University of Maryland un-
dergraduate students have enrolled
in an experimental project to quali.
fy as teachers in one-day-a-week
Jewish schools and thus help to
reduce a crippling shortage of
Jewish teachers.
The students are participating in
a non-credit study program or-
angized by the Bnai Brith Hillel
Foundation at Maryland University
and the Board of Jewish Educa-
tion of Greater Washington.
Classes are held at the Hillel
House on the Maryland campus.
Selected rabbis and Jewish educa-
tors from the Washington area
serve as instructors. The course is
supplementary to the regular un-
dergraduate courses of the stu-
dents.

Israel Survey Report

The Detroit Service Group of the
Jewish Welfare Federation will
hold its board of directors meeting
12:15 p.m. Wednesday at the Fred
M. Butzel Memorial Building,
George D. Keil, president, has an-
nounced.
The agenda will include the elec-
tion of officers. Members of the
Detroit Service Group's Israel sur-
vey four which returned Nov. 4
will give first-hand reports on their

Cavanagh to Speak
at AJC Conference.

Mayor Jerome P. Cavanagh of
Detroit, Shimon Peres, secretary
general of Israel's Rafi Party and
his country's former deputy de-
fense minister, and Morris B. Ab-
ram, president of the American
Jewish Committee, are among the
national and international figures
who will address sessions of the
agency's annual national executive
board meeting, Nov. 30 through
Dec. 3, at the Fairmont Hotel, San
Francisco.
Mayor Cavanagh, whose topic
will be "Cities Are Not For Burn-
ing," and Abram will be the prin-
cipal speakers at the dinner meet-
ing, Dec. 2, to be attended by 800
AJC leaders from across the
country.
In his address, Mayor Cavanagh
will discuss why radical violence
erupted in Detroit this past sum-
mer after the nation's fifth largest
city had been a model of restraint
for many years, and what private
agencies and individuals like AJC
and its members can do to ease
tensions in the city.
