Five delegates from Temple Emanu-El have been chosen to attend
the 49th general assembly of the Union of Hebrew Congregations
Nov. 11-16 at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal. They are Dr.
Conrad Goode, president; Dr. Warren Eder, president of the Metro-
politan Federation of Reform Syngaogues; Dr. Joseph Maltzer, Harry
Kretchmer and Rabbi Milton Rosenbaum. Mrs. Goode, president of
the sisterhood, and Mrs. Joseph H. Maltzer, president of the Michigan
Federation of Temple Sisterhoods, will attend the 26th biennial assem-
bly of the National Federation of Temple Sisterhoods, which will be
held in conjunction with the general assembly.
The Sherman Family Club will meet 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the
home of Dr. and Mrs. Philip Sherman, 28900 Bell, Southfield.

at AJCommittee
Luncheon Nov. 20

The American Jewish Commit-
tee, Detroit Chapter. will sponsor
a luncheon with Israeli leader
Shimon Peres, noon Nov. 20 at the
Butzel Building. The public is in-
vited.
Peres, who will address the Uni-
versity of Michigan faculty in Ann
Arbor 4 p.m. the same day, is the
first of a series of Israeli leaders
to be presented by the AJCammit-
tee during the forthcoming 20th
anniversary year of the state of
Israel.
A member of
the Israel Knes-
set awl of its se-
curity and foreign
affairs commit-
tee, Peres is sec-
retary-general of
the Rafi Party.
He was deputy
Peres
minister of defense from 1959 to
1965.
Born in Poland fn 1923, he immi-
grated to Israel with his family in
1934. He was educated in Israeli
schools and continued his higher
education in the United States,
where he studied at Harvard Uni-
versity and at the New School for
Social Research. At Harvard he
specialized in finance.
Long associated with David Ben-
Gurion, Peres joined with Ben-
Gurion and Moshe Dayan in orga-
nizing Rafi Party. During nis serv-
ice with the defense ministry, be-
gun in 1950, he was director-gen-
eral from 1955 to 1959 and was
deputy minister from 1959 to 1965.
Peres was awarded the Legion
of Honor by the French govern-
ment in 1957.

MISS DORENE COWAN

Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Cowan
of Gardner Ave., Oak Park, an-
nounce the engagement of their
daughter Dorene Cecile to Alan
Harold Finer, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Finer of George Washing-
ton Ave., Southfield.
The bride-elect was graduated
from Michigan State University,
where she was affiliated with Sig-
ma Delta Tau Sorority. An affili-
ate of Sigma Alpha Mu Fraternity,
her fiance graduated from Ferris
State College. He is now doing
graduate work at Michigan State
University.
An April wedding is planned.

Sinai Trustees to Vote
for New Members

The nomination committee of
Sinai Hospital Board of Trustees
will present eight names to the an-
nual meeting of the corporation
8:15 p.m. Nov. 27 in the main lec-
ture room of the hospital.
Dr. Julien Priver, hospital execu-
tive vice president, will be fea-
tured speaker.
Named for re-election to five-
year terms are Charles N. Agree,
Tom Borman, Sol Eisenberg, Max-
well Jospey, Malcolm S. Lowen-
stein, Harry C. Schaefer and Leon-
ard N. Simons.
The committee has proposed
Jack Wainger to fill an existing
vacancy on the 40-man board.
Wainger's term also would be for
five years.

degree over 10 to 15 minutes be-
fore filling. Cool first, then fill.

1 tablespoon sour cream
4 eggs
I-2teaspoon salt
'4 teaspoon white pepper

Drain tuna. Put tuna fish in a
colander and let hot water run
over it. Crumble tuna and put same
on half baked pie shell, saute in
1 tablespoon butter, minced onion,
put same over tuna, cover with
grated cheese. Beat eggs slightly.
add milk and sour cream, salt, pep-
per and nutmeg and pour over fish
mixture. Bake in 375 degree oven
about 30 minutes. Must be firm.
May bake it in the morning and
heat in oven 10 or 15 minutes be-
fore serving.

Salt fish and refrigerate over-
night. Next day, boil water, vine-
gar, onions sliced and carrots
sliced, sugar to taste 15 minutes:
wash fish of salt, add to seasoned
water and slimmer 25 minutes
partly covered, add peppercorns
and bay leaves and simmer 10 min-
utes more. Remove from stove and
cool. Remove fish to a large plat-
ter, put strained sauce over it and
refrigerate. Decorate with carrots
simmered in seasoned sauce. The
gravy jells on the fish. The fish
marinade can keep fresh two
weeks.
