Couple Finds a Home for Halloween Candy With Halloween over and candy consumption dropping off, Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Landau again make it possible to put all unwanted candy to good use. The Landaus, 24231 Gardner, Oak Park, collect unwanted candy, clean and prepare it, and deliver it to the children at Children's Village. Last year, the couple col- lected over 2,000 pounds of candy, and their staff spent over 300 hours preparing it for the village. Candy may be delivered to the Children's Village, Telegraph Rd. at Dixie Hwy., or the Landaus' residence. The Detroit Chapter of Ameri- can Technion Society, (Israel Insti- tute of Technology) will hold its 22nd annual dinner, which will pay tribute to its presidents 6:30 p.m. Sunday at•Cong. Bnai David. The national executive director of the American Technion Society, Edward R. Vajda, will make pres- entations to Harvey H. Goldman, Louis G. Redstone, Louis Gelfand, Benjamin Wilk, Murray Altman, Dr. Joseph N. Epel, Julius W. Lev and Robert Brody. Vajda, prior to his appointment as executive director of American Technion Society, served with the United Jewish Appeal for more than 20 years, many of those years as its national field director. From 1941 to 1946 he served the Joint Distribution Committee as its cen- tral states director, and prior to 19 4 1 represented the National Refugee Service, where he helped establish a basic resettlement pro- gram for refugees in the United States. Vajda received his educa- tion in Atlanta and holds an LLB degree. In addition to Vajda, Brig. Gen. S. L. A. Marshall will dis- cuss the Mid-East situation.
