To Honor Leaders for Service to Campaign at Meeting

The Flint Jewish Community
Council's annual meeing 6:30 p.m.
Sunday at Temple Beth El will
honor leaders of the Flint United
Jewish Appeal and Israel Emerg-
ency Fund, as well as other com-
munal leaders.
Among them are Jack Shaprow,
past president of the council;
Joseph Megdell, chairman of the
1966 and 1967 UJA and Israel
Emergency Fund drives; and Mr.
and Mrs. Gilbert Rubenstein, col-
lection chairmen of the emergency
campaign.
Others are Mesdames Max
Harris, Carl Myers, Milton Rosen-
baum and William Shapiro vi•o-

men's division chairmen.
Special awards will go to Jacob
Pines in campaign: Dr. Bernard
Dickstein, cult u r a 1 committee
chairman; and David Gotlib, who
will receive a youth service award.
For service during the emerg-
ency fund drive, Mesdames Her-

bert Harrison, Philip Agree,
Michael Pelavin, Edwin Schrei-
ber and Ted Vinacow will be
honored. Young leadership award
winners are Michael Pelavin,
1966, and Dr. Ira /Warder, 1967.

Women's division chairmen for
1966, Mesdames Jerome Arenson,
Joseph Megdell, Jack Shaprow and
Norman Sorcher will be honored,

Veterans, has been appointed a
national deputy chief of staff by
National Commander Samuel

Mrs. Jacob H. Roumm, 2553
Mason, widow of a Flint merchant,
died Sunday. She was 83.
Mrs. Roumm's husband operated
Roumm's Department Store on In-
dustrial Avenue from 1916 until his
death in 1943. She was a member
of Cong. Beth Israel and its sister-
hood, Hadassah and Pioneer Wo-
men.
Surviving are a son, Milton of
Seattle and two daughters, Mrs.
Hyman Loikrec of Grand Blanc
and Mrs. Louis Shulman of Iowa.

Dr. Erwin J. Gutowitz, Flint
physician, was elected to the board
of trustees of Bellefaire, resident-
ial treatment center in Celeveland,
at the 99th annual meeting.
Dr. Gutowitz was a graduate
of the Jewish Orphan Home, fore-
