THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS
HOLLYWOOD—Edward Anhalt,
twice an Academy-Award winning
author, first for the screenplay to
"Panic in the Streets," written in
collaboration with his first wife,
Edna, and second for the solo
chore on the much-heralded movie,
"Becket," now distinguishes him-
self with the outdoor epic, "Hour
of the Gun" (The Law and Tomb-
stone), starring James Garner as
Wyatt Earp, Jason Robards, Jr.,
as Doc Holliday and Robert Ryan
as Ike Clanton. After a screening
of the Mirisch-United Artists west-
ern, we met for an interview with
Anhalt, Garner and the film's di-
rector, John Sturges. Though the
background of the yarn, dealing
with the aftermath of the historic
gunfight at OK Corral, is the virgin
territory of Arizona 100 years ago,
the whole picture was shot in Mexi-
co where we attended location pho-
tography last December.
Wyatt Earp's revenge has a spe-
cific meaning. "He who violates
the code of his own profession bru-
talizes and destroys himself at the
end," says Anhalt.
