Morris Ben Lewis, who has been

Born in Lithuania, Oct. 28, 1892,
Lewis came to the United States
in 1909. He opened his first store
here as the Lewis Loan Office
April 19, 1921, and his subsequent
four stores and offices in 1923,
1936, 1938 and 1946.
Joining the army on April 30,
1918, he was honorably dis-
charged Jan. 1, 1919 and since
then has been active in many
communal affairs here.
He brought his mother, brother
and sisters here from Europe in
1920 and assisted in settling his
family in Detroit.
Lewis joined the Shaarey Zedek
in 1932 and has been active in
many of the congregational affairs,
