Barney Smith, Detroit Builder,
Had Important Communal Role

1949, he founded Sullivan-Smith.
He also established the Robinson
Bros. building firm.
For many years, he was active
in campaigns for Keren Hayesod,
and Zionist causes, as well as the
Allied Jewish Campaigns. He was
a member of the Standard City
Club, Franklin Hills Country Club,
Cong. Shaarey Zedek and Fresh
Air SocietS,.'
Surviving are his wife, Marion;
three sons, Robert, Craig and Mil-
ton; a daughter, Mrs. David (Lois)
Robinson; four brothers, Abraham,
David, Irving of Pikesville, Md.,

Harry Dormer, 77,
Detroit Restaurateur

Harry L. Dormer, restaurateur
in Detroit for almost half a cen-
tury, died Monday at age 77.
Mr. Dormer, 13321 Albany, Oak
Park, first owned the Pure Food
Restaurant on Hastings and then
operated Blaine Restaurant on
12th St., Dormer's in the National
Bank Building and finally, the
Greenbush Inn, a summer resort
near Oscoda in the Upper Penin-
sula. He retired, when he became
ill in recent years, he joined his
son Morton in the real estate busi-
ness.
Born in Austria, Mr. Dermer was
a member of several organizations
in the community. Past grand mas-
ter of Jericho Lodge Independent
Order of Odd Fellows, he also be-
longed to Brith Sholom Lodge, Pis-
gah Lodge of Bnai Brith, Rovner
Progressive Aid Society and Hista-
drut.
Survivors are his son; two daugh-
ters, Mrs. Harry (Peggy) Miller
and Mrs. Abraham (Ruth) Gur-
sky; eight grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.
