Max M. Shaye and Walter Field
will head the Israel Survey Tour
of the Detroit Service Group.
Fifty-nine people will leave Oct.
23 for three weeks in .Israel where
they will be received by govern-
ment officials and be taken behind
the scenes at social service and
welfare agencies for a look at the
present programs and future needs
of the people.
Shaye serves as a member of
the board of governors of the Jew-
ish Welfare Federation and is a
former president of the Detroit
Service Group and the Jewish
Family and Children's Service. He
was the 1967 Allied Jewish Cam-
paign pre-campaign chairman.
Field, also a member of the
board of federation, and has
served for many years as a leader
in the Allied Jewish Campaign.

On Oct. 26 the group will at-
tend a dinner in Tel Aviv given
by United Jewish Appeal to
honor Max M. Fisher of Detroit
who has served as general chair-
man for the past two years. Is-
raeli Prime Minister Levi Eshkol
will address the meeting.

The tour will end on Sunday,
Nov_ 5. Many of the participants
are returning home by way of Te-
heran where they will visit various
installations of the Joint Distri-
bution Committee. Others will view
JDC centers in Rome, Paris and
Athens.

An additional purchase of $75,000 in State of Israel Bonds
by the building fund of Congregation Dovid Ben Nuchim was made
on the eve of the High Holy Days. Holding the $75,000 check are
(from left): Rabbi Chaskel Grubner, Louis E. Levitan, Detroit Israel
Bond director, and Harry Rott, chairman of the executive board
of the congregation. The congregation was founded by David Rott,
the father, and Harry Rott, the son, and perpetuates the Hebrew
name of the father, Dovid Ben Nuchim.
