The free lunch
period, which oc-

curs either fourth or fifth hour
(depending on the student's sched-
ule), is one hour set aside for
lunch. Since most people finish
lunch in 15 minutes, this hour is
set aside for many activties and
clubs, such as the pep club, science,
drama, art, bridge, magic, Spanish,
French and audio-visual clubs.
Also occuring at this time are
regular movies, guitar lessons and
an occasional hootenany. A reper-
tory theater, established by and
run by students, is one of the most
ambitious of these projects.
A student congress has been
formed with temporary repre-
sentatives and is currently form-
ing the constitution of the school.
Such topics as student repre-
sentation, dress codes, test days
and dances have been discussed.
Regular athletic teams have be-
gun practice. The 10th grade team
faced its first match Tuesday.
At the school's first dance, the
school's nickname, Chargers, was
revealed. This name will serve as
the school's theme from now on.
A biweekly newsletter, "Black-
mail!," edited by Sandee Tobin,
serves as information center of
the school. Other staffers are
Nancy Shapiro, Dave Cottler, Mary
Ditkoff, Steve Stein, Rich Wein-
berg, and assistant editor Lynn
Berman.
