She re- ceived a fellowship at Wayne and will be studying for her PhD in English. Miss Diengott received a bach- elor's degree in English and Romance Language and her mas- ter's degree in English and com- parative literature, from the He- brew University in Jerusalem. She has studied at the Sorbonne. Her father, Dr. Daniel Diengott, who headed the internal medicine department at Rothschild Hospital in Haifa, is now on a research grant at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. Her maternal grand- father. Abraham El Malech, was a member of the first Knesset after the State of Israel was declared. Her paternal grandfather, .Meier Diengott, taught English at the Reali High School in Haifa and is author of an English grammar which is still used in the Israeli schools. She was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. where her father was sta- tioned with the British forces in World War II.
