"I WENT IN WITH a coronary
and came out with a 13-year-old
child" . . . Popular Sally Fields
of El Al Airlines explains that
while 'recently at Detroit. Me-
morial Hospital, a patient in her
room when she arrived, had 11
children visit daily . . . One day,
Sally jokingly said, "Give me Zora"
. . . Three weeks later, 13-year-old
Zora came to visit Sally and said,
"My mother and dad talked it over
and decided that if you still want
me, I can go with you."r. . . The
little girl is now living With Sally,
who has taken a deep interest in
the youngster, both cultur41 - and
educational . . . The parents are
thankful for Sally taking such an
interest as to get
Zora out of the
"Dubois - Illinois
ghetto area" and
give her a decent
place to live plus
a chance in life
. . . Sally's very
sudden illness
was, as she puts
it, "a heart at-
tack sweetened
with a bit of sug-
ar, sprinkled with
gravel from the
gall stone a n d
covered with a
beautiful topping L.
Miss Fields
of high blood
pressure " . After numerous
tests, it v.- Aceided to ignore the
"side h. -.efits" and concentrate on
repairing the heart damage, so
Sally will be at home for a couple
of months . . . She received over
500 cards, over 50 plabts, a flock
of charity donations, and a very
happy little Negro girl.
HAL GORDON, local ork leader,
pianist and arranger, had worked
before with Danny Thomas and so
was asked to do so when the star
comes to Detroit on Sept. 24 . . .
However, Hal has had to refuse
since he is booked to play two
weddings that night.
