Noreen Kasle Engaged
to Arnold S. Schafer

MISS NOREEN KASLE

Mr. and Mrs. Louis Kasle of
Flint announce the engagement of
their daughter Noreen Laura to
Arnold Stewart Schafer. A June 30
wedding date has been chosen by
Miss Kasle and her fiance, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Sol Schafer, also of
Flint.

Robert Marc Abram,
Flint Attorney, Dead

Robert Mark Abram, past presi-
dent of the Flint Chapter, Ameri-
can Trial Lawyers Association and
. a member of the board of the
Flint Urban League, died Aug. 31
at age, 33.
Mr. Abram, who was born in De-
troit, was a graduate of Michigan
State University in 1954 and Wayne
State University's law school in
1957. He worked in the mortgage
division of the American Savings
and Loan Association in Detroit
until opening law offices in Flint
in 1958. He was a, partner in the
law firm of Leitson, Dean, Dean,
Abram, Segar and Hart.
A member of Flint's Temple
Beth El, Mr. Abram also was a
member of the American, Michigan
and . Genesee County bar associa-
tions, National Lawyers Guild, Am-
erican Arbitration Association and
the Pheonix Club.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara; I
a son, Matthew; a daughter Wendy
Sue; his parents, Mr:rand Mrs. Har-
ry Abram of Oak Park; and a sis-
ter, Mrs. Richard Schaefer of South-
field.

tions in that country. The mission
is sponsored by the Young Leader-
ship Cabinet of the United Jewish
Appeal, and each participant will
pay his own way.
Representing Flint are Mr. and
Mrs. Gilbert Y. Rubenstein. Ruben-
stein, UJA chairman for the Flint
Jewish Community Council. served
three years as president. This year
he has served' as emergency col-
lection chairman for the Council.

he is a past president of the Gen-
esee County Bar Association and

Joseph Gordon, owner of Sani-

6 at age 64. .
Mr: Gordon, who was born in
Russia, lived in Detroit before
coming to Flint. He belonged to
Cong. Bnai Israel, Bnai Brith and
the Elks.
Surviving are his wife, Minnie;
two sons, Kenneth and Richard:
his mother, Mrs. Bessie Gordon of
Detroit; a brother, Martin; and
four sisters, Mrs. William (Lottie)

and Belle of Detroit and Mrs. Kurt
(Rae) Liebenthal of Cincinnati.

Vickie Larson were united in mar-

by Hias Service

United Hias Service provided
rescue, resettlement and related
services last year to approximately
53.500 Jewish men, women and
children, Carlos L. Israels, presi-
dent, stated in the agency's 1966;
annual report. More than 8,800 of
these people were assisted to re - 1
r settle in the United States and
I other Western countries.
During the past year, the active
caseload of persons regiStered to
emigrate reached 23,608; pre-
migration services in the United
States and Latin America were ren-
dered to 16,319 relatives and spon-
sors of prospective migrants; 3,030
were aided in the United States
with such post-migration services
as naturalization, adjustment of
status, and prevention of deporta-
tion and jeopardy; 1,549 persons
were located throughout the world
and, in Latin America, 158 mi-
grants who arrived in prior years
received agency assistance.
The cost of .the agency's world- .
wide operations for the year,
Israels stated, amounted to 52,250,-
334 and resulted in a net•cumula-
tive deficit of $131,2671 -
