Dr. Sherman Name d Sinai Hospital Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology The first full-time chief of the division of obstetrics and gyne- cology. Dr. Alfred I. Sherman, has been appointed by Sinai Hospital, the executive vice-president, Dr. .Julien Pricer, announced. A native of Hamilton, Ontario. Dr. Sherman comes to Sinai from St. Louis, Mo., where he was a profes- sor of obstetrics and gynecology at t h e Washington University School of Medicine. -4 D r. Sherman received degrees r o m Hamilton Central Collegiate Institute and the University of Tor- onto school of Dr. Sherman medicine. After serving an intern. ship and residency at Hamilton General Hospital, he interned and served a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at St. Louis Ma- ternity and Barnes Hospital in Mis- souri. In 1950, he received a fel- lowship to the Washington Uni- versity School of Medicine and went on to become an instructor in radiotherapy and professor in obstetrics and gynecology. While in St. Louis, Dr. Sherman was co-director of the John A. Hartford Foundation Cytogenetics Laboratory and consultant in gyne- cology to the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology. With membership in many organizations and a long list of articles published in journals. Dr. Sherman found time to write a concise book on the diagnosis and treatment of gynecologic cancer, "Cancer of the Female Reproduc- tive Organs," published in 1963. The committee has contacted a group of lawyers who are now exploring the feasibility of such a lawsuit. To institute such a suit, notice of intent to file must be served on the corporation counsel of the city, or on his assistant, within 60 days after the damages were incurred.
