UN Cease-Fire Force at Suez Raised to 50
UNITED NATIONS, N.Y. (JTA)
—Secretary-General U Thant filed
with the Security Council a report
from Lt. Gen. Odd Bull, his repre-
sentative for the implementation of
the Arab-Israeli cease-fire agree-
ment, requesting that the cease-
fire observation teams in the Suez
Canal area be increased from the
present strength of 26 observers on
both sides to 50 observers.
Of the 50, Gen. Bull stated, be
is assigning 26 observers to the
UN control center at Kantara• on
the east bank of the canal now
occupied by Israel, and 24 to the
Ismailia control center, on the
Egyptian-held west bank. In addi-
tion, Gen. Bull reported, there are
four observation posts on the
Israeli side, two of them manned
on a 24-hour basis, and an observa-
tion post on the Egyptian side also
manned 24 hours a day.

ence of Presidents of Major Ameri-
can Jewish Organizations heard an
off-the-record report Monday on
the latest developments in the Mid-
dle East from Gideon Rafael.

leaders of the 21 national Jewish
agencies which make up the Pres-
ident's Conference. He was accom-
panied by Michael Arnon, Israel's

presided at the meeting in the ab-
sence of Dr. Joachim Prinz, chair-
man of the President's Conference,
who is currently abroad.

of Arab Gaza Family
for Possessing Arms
JERUSALEM (JTA) — Three
members of one Arab family —
the father and two sons — were
given stiff sentences by an Israeli
court in Gaza after being convicted
of possessing a cache of arms
found in their home. The father
was sentenced to seven years' im-
prisonment. One of the sons was
given a four-year term, and the
second was sentenced to two years'
imprisonment. The arms included
10 submachineguns made in Conn - '
munist China, plus bullets for
those guns.
Israel's military governor ruling
the occupied areas taken from Jor-
dan revoked today the Jordanian
anti-Israel boycott law which for-;
bade Arabs to trade in goods made
in Israel. Earlier, Israel had an-
nounced that all Jordanian laws
affecting the West Bank area re-'
mained in force except for those
specifically repealed by the mili-
tary government. The existence of
the boycott implemented by Arabs
living and trading in the West
Bank areas. With today's decree.
the boycott has been formally out-
lawed.
