When Vladimir Jabotinsky and
Meier Grossmann founded the
Yiddish daily "Unser Tribune"
in London in 1916 to propagate the
establishment of the Jewish Le-
gion, Arie Meir Kaizer began his
journalistic career and joined the
Jewish Legion. He died at the age
of 71 in Tel Aviv on Saturday,
July 15, 1967.
When the Jewish Legion was
dissolved Kaizer returned to civil
life and became General Secretary
of the Ukrainian Jewish Relief
Association (which later became
the Polish Jewish Fund) with
offices in Soho Square, London.
Some 45 years ago he became
co-founder of the Association of
Jewish Journalists and Authors in
Great Britain and its Hon. Secre-
tary. On the death of Mr. Morris
Myer, editor of "Die Zeit," the
last Yiddish daily in Great Britain,
Mr. Kaizer became Chairman of
the Association. He took a great
interest in all Yiddish activities
and in the last 20 years par-
ticipated in practically every
meeting arranged jointly by the
Association and the British Section
of the World Jewish Congress.
In 1944 he published a book in
Yiddish entitled "This Whitechapel
of Ours". The famous character
in his books and humorous articles
was Yericham, The Melamed.
Kaizer also published essays on
Yiddish and Hebrew literature and
addressed meetings not only in
Yiddish but also in Hebrew.
At the end of 1966, together with
his wife and daughter, Naomi,
he left London to settle in Tel
Aviv.

UN to Issue Stamp
Honoring Chagall

UNITED NATIONS, N.Y. (JTA)
— A special series of six postage
stamps honoring Marc Chagall, the
famous Jewish artist, in connection
with his 80th birthday, will be
issued here Nov. 17, it was an-
nounced Tuesday by the United
Nations Postal Administration.
Each of the stamps will repro-
duce one of the six sections of the
stained-glass window at UN head-
quarters donated by Chagall in
commemoration of the late Sec-
retary-General Dag Hammarskjold.
