New Delhi Justifies Anti-Israel Stand

replying to critics of the govern-
ments policy, charged that Israel
had been guilty of "deliberate and
cold-blooded" killing of India n
soldiers who were serving with the
United Nations Emergency Force
at the time the June war broke
out between Israel and Egypt.

NEW DELHI (JTA) — The In-
dian government We dnes day
justified a g a i n its anti-Israeli
stand, an attitude that had been
criticized in parliament here.
Defense Minister Swaram Singh,

Singh told parliament that UN
Secretary-General U T ha n t has
lodged protests with Israel against
those actions, and has demanded
that Israel pay compensation for
the death of Indian soldiers in the
UNEF.

Bonds Narrow- Trade Deficit
In the first quarter of 1967, Is-
rael's trade deficit had been nar-
rowed by $30,000,000. This resulted
in large part from the utilization
of Israel Bond investments, en-
abling the government to retool
the economy in terms of production
for export. The Mideast war inter-
rupted the improvement in Israel's
balance of payments, but this has
now once again become a major
area of national concentration.
