Hadassah Hospital Keys Transferred

A New York Times correspond-'
ent in Tel Aviv placed his finger
' squarely on an issue involving the
Soviet Union's relations with Is-
; rael. Reporting the decision of the
Israel government to oust the Tass
correspondent, Ivan Stovbun, (who
also had semidiplomatic status),
until such time that the USSR
reciprocally admits an Israeli cor-
respondent, the New York Times
correspondent cabled the follow-
ing:
"The Israeli action illustrates a
new attitude in relations with the
Soviet Union. Israel had swallowed
, a string of insults in the hope
that better relations might be
brought about."
It's another way of saying: no

more being pushed around !

Mrs. Mortimer Jacobson, national president of Hadassah, is
shown receiving the keys to Hadassah Hospital atop Mt. Scopus, from
Menahem Scharfman—known as "The King of the Hill"—who repre-
sented Israel authorities. Scharfman had been in command of the
Israeli convoy on Mt. Scopus for the last 30 months. The hospital,
which is to be transformed into a Hadassah Rehabilitation Center,
had remained empty' for the last 19 years, sealed off from use when
the United Nations assumed jurisdiction over the area. Hadassah
Hospital was repossessed by Hadassah with the reunification of Old
and New Jerusalem.

The vilest anti-Israel propaganda
is the "View from the left" as the
communists themselves have la-
beled it in their publications in
Greenwich Village and wherever
they can publish their hate sheets.
Their misleading comments on
Israel's treatment of refugees—
(the refugees never were treated
as well as in the last four weeks-
and if Israel's role is not stymied
those in Gaza eventually will have
the citizenship Egypt has been de- I
nying them)—and their lies about
Israel's aspirations are galling.
But most distressing is the fact
that a few Jewish leftists are
among the leaders in this hate-
spreading propaganda campaign.
*
The poll taken of Americans'
viewpoints—the expression of an
overwhelming majority of our fel-
low citizens in support of Israel
—negates all the poppycock that
stems from the Beirut School of
Theologian hatred, from misled
Arabs and from the viewpoint on
the left (the commies) who take
orders from the Kremlin. Lincoln
was right: you can't fool all of
the people all of the time. Let's
keep Americans informed so that
the hate-spreaders will remain
exposed for the lies they spread.

the Jewish side of the Middle East

a leading Detroit paper. It's the
old story of communists coming
here to malign us and when they
are asked whether equal space

Americans in Russia their answer
is never to the point—because
they have no answer—but only
with abuse.
