Rabbi Max Kapustin, director of
the Bnai Brith Hillel Foundation
at Wayne State University, said
this week that at no point during
his two decades in Jewish student
work "have I seen a genuine out-
burst of Jewish concern and soli-
darity even remotely comparable"
with the reaction to the Middle
East war.
"Before the outbreak of hos-
tilities," said Rabbi Kapustin, "the
mood of Jewish students showed
a dramatic change. There was in-
creased traffic at the Hillel House,
telephone inquiries and approach-
ing the director all over the cam-
pus. The question was always the
same: 'Is there news from Israel?'
The radios at the house were kept
going without interruption."

Help Israel in Emergency

Two 12-year-old Oak Park girls
who really CARE have gone into
partnership with more than 60
metropolitan Detroit merchants.
I They are neighbors Ami Moss,
12950 Northfield, and Phyllis Gor-
don, 12940 Northfield. Ami is
the daughter of Dr. Leonard Moss,
chairman of Wayne State Univer-
sity's sociology and anthropology
department.
They are planning the fourth
annual CARE carnival to be held
at the Moss home from 10 a.m. to
5 p.m., July 22.
The various businesses have do-
nated food, soft drinks and prizes
as their part of the enterprise.
CARE Carnival Day promises to
be the neighborhood fun event of
the summer with games, door
prizes, food, soft drinks, and sur-
prises.
The girls are hoping to top last
year's $80 collection. Proceeds will
be used to send CARE food pack-
ages and school supplies to needy
children abroad.
Says Dr. Moss: "The girls set
the whole thing up themselves.
The only thing I get to do is spend
the next year putting my yard
back in shape. But I don't care —
for CARE."
