Sinai Hospital's Shapero School
of Nursing has become the first
practical nursing school in Michi-
gan and only the fifth nationwide
to receive accreditation by the
National League for Nursing.
The Shapero School, one of more
than 1,000 practical nursing insti-
tutions in the United States, was
built in 1956 with a gift from the
Nate S. and Ruth B. Shapero and
Cunningham Drug Company Foun-
dations.
Through its most recent gradu-
ating class in March of this year,
the Shapero School has produced
more than 700 practical nurses
who have ranked first in the state
licensing examinations each year
since 1958.
The accreditation, immediately
effective, is for a three-year period.

Basic to the discussion is the ex-
perience in Sweden, and a volume

of great significance on the sub-
ject has been published by Pan-
theon (22 E. 51st. NY22).
The important Pantheon book,
"Sex and Society in Sweden," by
Birgitta Linner, offers all the val-
uable data on the freedom of sex
discussions and practices and con-
tains significant material on sex
education for children.
It is an unembarrassed subject
in Sweden and because of the
frankness with which it is dis-
cussed by Birgitta Linner, the val-
uable data in her important book,
the thoroughness of her analyses,
her work is the most valuable now
available on the subject of sex
and society.

had never visited the home. Offi-

by the gift.
