Emergency Fund; $5,500,000
Sum Already Passed in Drive

Emma Schaver to Sing at Mt. Scopus
Zimrya Opening Concert Wednesday

Israel's ministry of tourism an-
nounced that it is proceeding with
plans to sponsor the series of cul-
tural events and that the seventh
annual Israel Zimrya festival, the
world assembly of choirs, will open
on Mt. Scopus next Wednesday.
Mrs. Morris L. (Emma) Schaver
of Detroit has been named world
chairman of this year's Zimrya
and has been accorded the honor
of appearing at Wednesday's com-
mencing concert.
Mrs. Schaver will sing the new
song, "Yerushalayim shel Zahav"
—the Golden Jerusalem — and

Support for major relief and humanitarian programs in Israel
during the present emergency, have come from all friends of the
Jewish people and Israel. Hundreds of contributions have been received
from non-Jewish business men, professionals, church groups, labor
organizations and citizens from all walks of life.
On Sunday afternoon, July 23, the Church of God—Great Lakes
Jurisdiction will hold a public rally on behalf of the Israel Emergency
Fund at Temple Beth El. Bishop C. L. Anderson and Rev. A. M. Miller
will lead the appeal.
Zuckerman announced that, as a result of the inspiring com-
mitments of support from the Jews of Detroit, the Israel Emergency
Fund has now passed the $5,500,000 mark. Those who have not yet
made a pledge are urged to send in their contribution immediately to the
Allied Jewish Campaign—Israel Emergency Fund, 163 Madison Ave-
nue, Detroit, 48226.
