Chicorel-Katzman Rites planned for December LETTER BOX Hope of Israel Analyzed by Christadelphian Editor, The Jewish News: Nun Is First 'Resident' at Jewish Home for Aged On page 218 there is the follow ing, "Enough has been said to show that the restoration of Israel is one of the main features of the divine purpose to be developed in the future — that the Kingdom of God cannot be established without its accomplishment, and that, in fact, it is an element in the grand event on which the world's salva- tion depends. 'Salvation is of the Jews', nationally and individu- ally." Nominal "Christendom" knows little about "the hope of Israel," Your last editorial states, "It is especially pressing that Christians everywhere should let their voices be heard, wherever diplomats are scheming to weaken Israel's status . . ." The problem is that the vast majority of "Christians" have completely neglected to search the Scriptures daily, consequently it is useless to look therefore they know nothing about for assistance from that which is MISS SHELLEY CHICOREL Mr. and Mrs. Max Chicorel of Pembroke Ave. announce the en- gagement of their daughter Shelley Joan to Robert M. Erlich the one "hope of Israel" (Acts 17:11, and 28:20). Christianity today is so far apostate that it is comparable to Babylonian myth- ology as Robert Roberts' book, "Christendom Astray" cle a r l y proves. This book was first written in 1862, many years before Theodor Herzl's pa m p h l e t, "A Jewish State." Because this Christadelph- ian, Robert Roberts, understood the Christian "hope of Israel," he wrote in pages 213, 214, "They (the Jews) will be collected from the lands among which they are now distributed in disgrace, and re- settled in their land as a great nation; this will be the gathering. Surely this is plain . . . When this shall come to pass, the enemies of Israel will be confounded. Those who now deride them, and mock at their national hope, will be over- taken by the retribution to which they are rendering themselves liable. The approaching noontide of Jewish prosperity will be their (the enemies') destruction. The preliminary symptoms of the change will fill them with panic ... Here, then, is certain doom for all who now take part against Israel; but there is a blessing in store for those who be- friend them. "Blessed is he that blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth thee." Levitan, Detroit Israel Bond director, has issued a state- ment to reassure Israel Bond pur- chasers whose bonds have been delayed. He declared the delay is due to the extraordinary re- sponse by purchasers, causing the banks to run out of bond certi- ficates. Levitan wrote: - "Dear Bond Buyer, "This is a happy letter of apology. Never have so many Is- rael Bonds been sold to so many Detroit Jewish families in so short a time in so large an amount. As a result of this happy fact, all the Israel Bond banks of issue, including the National Bank here, have run out of bonds. "The company which prints the bond certificates has been unable to keep up with the demand, and we have just discovered that thousands of Detroit Israel Bond buyers, who normally would have received their bonds within 10 to 14 days after sending in their money, have already experienced a delay of several weeks. "We wish to thank you for your patience and for helping to create this "happy crisis." You won't have to wait too long now. The National Bank has placed an emergency order for a substantial number of Israel bond certificates with the Chase Manhattan Bank of New York, and you should get your bonds within a few weeks. "Interest on your Israel Bonds will, of course, be earned from the date your bond application was sent to the bank by our of- fice. "Thank you for waiting." These facts are guar- anteed by God in His Holy Scrip- tures. "Turn away from man in whose nostrils is breath, for of what account is he?" "And many peoples shall come. and say: 'Come, let us go up to the moun- tain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; that He may teach us His ways and that we may walk in His paths.' For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. He shall judge between the nations, and shall decide for many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more."
