THELMA AND ISRAEL LEVEN

STEIN, at The Jewish News table,
celebrated their wedding anniver-
sary at the Israel dinner honoring
Philip Slomovitz at Cobo Hall . . .
while only a short distance away
was Rabbi Leizer Levin, who tied
the knot 29 years ago!
. • .
BEN AND SAYDE HARRISON'S
lawn party honoring consecration
of daughter, Elizabeth It u t h ,
brought the police asking for less
noise . . . It couldn't have been
the complaint of their neighbors be-
cause all were invited and at-
tended . . . Of course, with the
jam-sessioning band outdoors
really blasting, it's conceivable
that somebody many blocks away
could have put in the call!
• • •
ALMOST EVERY SUNDAY one
can see Kenny and Judy Winer
on their motorcycle with their hair
flying in the breeze . .. Judy still
chuckles when Kenny asks her for
some "change" so they can fill
up on gas.
• • •
BRUCE LYONS. son of Lou and
Ann Lyons, has finally found his
stay-put spot with Manufacturers
National Bank . . . After being a
roving manager for a year, Bruce
has been given "his own bank."
. . . It may be far out on Jeffer-
son and Coplin, 1/2 mile before
Grosse Pointe Farms, but Bruce
couldn't care less now . . . Of
course he would have liked one a
little closer, especially since he
was just married last week to
Natalie Korby and they took an
apartment in Southfield . . . Bruce
was a teller with MNB just over
• • •
SINCE ESTHER WEISSERMAN,
head cook for Bill Kozin and Larry
Horowitz at Imperial Catering, has
been doing her fine chores at their
new spot, Beth Abraham Syna-
gogue, Esther constantly meets
people she hasn't seen in many
years . . . Esther recently recog-
nized a woman, made certain she
was seeing correctly, and it was
one grand time of reminiscing as
they talked of the days before
Esther came to Detroit from Chi-
cago 37 years ago!
• • •
DOUBLE CELEBRATION took
place at June 11 marriage of Jew-
ish News City Editor Charlotte Hy-
ams to Harold Dubin • .. Was big
day also for JN office gal Judy
Glassman . . . her 21st birthday.

JAY KALTER, ii-year-old son
of Dan and Sylvia Kalter, always
seems to find something to say
. . . While at Sentry drug store in
Southfield, as dad waited to pay
for his cigars, a couple of teen-age
girls were admiring the stuffed
dolls . . . %fay remarked, They're
not for you. That's kid stuff!" . - .
At a dress shop with mother, one
of the employes said, "Hello lit-
tle boy" . and Jay replied, "I'm
not a little boy. I'll be bar mitz-
vaed soon. but not until after I'm
married!"

WHEN IIARRY AND PAULINE
MILLER returned home from the
dinner at Cobo Hall they found
their side entrance door closed and
spied through the window at their
keys on the kitchen table ... While
waiting for the police to arrive
to gain entry, a strong breeze blew
their front door open ... The amaz-
ing thing is that this door auto-
matically locks when closed . , .
They still can't explain it!
