Joel Kellman People Make News Comedian JACKIE MASON has canceled a Las Vegas engagement to leave for Israel to entertain the troops. The Israeli government is cooperating fully and will transport him from base to base, Mason said, but he is paying his own fare there and will be paid nothing. "I'll be there three or four weeks, unless they start shooting," Mason said. "Then I'll be back in an hour." s * MISS BETSY STROMER Mr. and Mrs. Max P. Zeltzer, president of the United Hebrew Schools in Detroit, received a citation at the commence- ment exercises of the Jewish Teachers Semi- nary and Peo- ple's University in New York -- City. The report said that some 40 Jews who already had exit visas were not permitted to leave the country. So far, there has been no official Soviet comment on the matter.
