MRS. WALTER STEWART

Gail Ellen Richman and Walter
Philip Stewart were married re-
cently at Bnai David Synagogue.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Melville J. Richman of
Marlowe Ave. Her husband is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stewart
of E. Huntley Sq., Birmingham.
Rabbi Hayim Donin and Cantor
Hyman Adler officiated.
The bride wore a gown fashioned
of Swiss crocheted lace. The A-line
skirt was complimented by an em-
pire bodice appliqued with embroi-
dered daisies and seed pearls. She
wore a mantilla-type cathedral
veil.
Jay Richman, sister-in-law of the
bride, was matron of honor. Maid
of honor was the bride's sister-in-
law Karen Stewart. Bridesmaids
were Tobi Ehrenpreis, Carol Eisen-
berg, Mrs. David Glaser, Joyce
Gold, Susan Lebowitz and Lori
Stewart.
Robert Stewart, the bridegroom's
brother, served as best man. Ush-
ers were Jack Berman, Dr. Jay
Richman, Edward Ruby, Frederick
Ruby, David Sclare, Robert Sloan
and Joseph Stewart.
After a Montreal and Eastern
United States honeymoon, the
couple will live in Troy.

Charie B. Wrotslovsky, daughter of Ben and Goldie Wrotslovsky
was graduated from Beth Jacob High School recently at McGregor
Hall. She was valedictorian of her class of 14 girls. Five boys were
graduated from Beth Yehudah Schools. She also received a Phi Beta
Kappa award and the JWV scholarship award. Charie will continue her
studies at Wayne State University. Her summer will be spent at the
Seminary in Moshava, Wild Rose, Wis.
Mrs. Max (Annabelle) Maran and children, former Detroiters
now of Los Angeles, are here for an extended visit with Mr. and Mrs.
Harvey Yourist of Balfour Rd., Oak Park.
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel White, of Forrer Ave. attended the
convocation and graduation ceremonies at Michigan State University
June 10 and 11. Their daughter, Rhea J. White, became a doctor of
veterinary medicine. Dr. White will continue her education with post-
doctoral studies as a resident In anesthesiology at the University of
Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
The final meeting of the year of the Cornfield Family Club will
be held 8 p.m. Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Berger,
14550 Balfour, Oak Park.

Weiner Receives
'67 Merit Award

Milton Weiner has been selected
to receive the 1967 Award of Merit
from the Metropolitan Detroit
Chapter of the National Asociation
of Social Workers. The selection,
announced by Mrs. Elaine Reed,
chapter chairman, is annually
given to a professional social
worker for out-
standing profes-
sional perform-
ance. Weiner was
selected for his
creativity, per-
sonal dedication,
integrity and con-
tribution to the
field of social
i work.

cites his fearless leadership as
chapter chairman in 1965-66 and
his ability to involve more mem-
bers in chapter activities than
ever before, and his representation
of professional social work to the
community at large.

Weiner has been employed • by
the Jewish Welfare Federation as
planning associate for five years.
On July 1, he will assume a new
position as assistant director of the
school social work department of
the Detroit public schools. He was
employed in the Detroit, Oak Park
and Pontiac school systems for
eight years.
He is a graduate of Wayne State
University, receiving a bachelor's
degree in 1950, master's degree in
education in 1954 and a master of
social work degree in 1959. He was
president of Social Work Alumni in
1963-64 and has been a member
of the alumni board of directors
since 1965. He is also serving a
three-year term on the Wayne
State University Alumni Advisory
Council.
Weiner's community activities
were a factor in his selection. He
was reginoal secretary for the
White House Conference on Chil-
dren in 1960. He is a member of
the Michigan Welfare League, In-
ternational Afro-American Museum
Committee, Detroit Education Com-
mission and Meyers-Schaefer-Seven
Mile Community Council.
He is married to the former Mar-
garet Mazell, a supervisor at De-
troit Jewish Family and Children's
Service.
The award will be presented to
Weiner at,the NASW's annual meet-
ing on June 28. Also receiving rec-
ognition will be Bernard Houston,
director of the Department of
Social Services of the State of
Michigan.

Gail Elaine Schwartz, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Barney Schwartz
of Strathcona Dr. became the
bride of Alan Sugar, son of Dr.
and Mrs. Saul Sugar of San Juan
Dr., at a double ring ceremony at
the bride's home.
The bride was attended by her
sister Janice, who was maid of
honor. The bridegroom was at-
tended by his twin brother Joel,
who served as best man.
