Yaakov Zerubavel. Joseph Shiffman, 62;
Ex-Detroiter Lived in
Veteran Zionist
Miami Beach 8 Years
Joseph David Shiffman, a found-
ing member of Adas Shalom Syna-
gogue and active in Miami Jewish
life, died Tuesday at Sinai Hospi-
tal. He was 62.
Mr. Shiffman. who retired eight .
years ago as owner of Florence .
Silk Shop, a drapery business, on
Joseph Campau Ave.. Hamtramck.'
lived in Miami Beach since that
time. Born in Poland. he resided
, in Detroit 40 years before moving
- to the sunnier climate.

TEL AVIV (JTA1 — Yaakov
Zerubavel (Vitkin), veteran jour-
nalist and Labor Zionist leader.
died here last weekend at age 81.
A member of the Zionist execu-
tive. Mr. Zerubavel was director of
the central archives of the Jewish
labor movement and coeditor of
"Ha'Ahdut," a weekly publication.
Born in Poltava, Ukraine, Mr.
Zerubavel came to Palestine in
1010 and served as editor of the
"Arbeiter Zeitung" and of the
''Naye Welt." He was also the
author of numerous books.

sah, died Sunday at age 84.
Mrs. Goldberg, 11 McLean. High-
land Park. was a native of De-
troit. She leaves a son, Harold S.

Zionist Organization of America.
In addition, he was trustee of the
Israel Bond Committee of Miami
and worked for Detroit's Allied
Jewish Campaign many years.
Survivors are his wife, Florence:
a son, Dr. Milton of Detroit: a
daughter, Terra n: a brother,
Morse, and a sister Doris, both of
Detroit: and three grandchildren.

Residing at 11537 Hamilton, they
were both life residents of Detroit.
Mrs. Helper, widow of Harry
Helper, was a broker for a scrap
iron works and was a member of
United Order of True Sisters. Mr.
Applebaum was a. race track
cashier.
Surviving are a niece, Mrs.
Morris (Barbara) Zelmon and Mrs.
Helper's nephew, Mendell Gordon.
