duced its requests because the
state law requires that school dis-
tricts change a bonding proposal if
the electorate has once voted on
the proposal. For this reason the
district scaled down the $12,000,000
bonding proposition to $8,000,000.
The renewal hasn't been changed
but the extra 4 mill proposal was
offered as a 51/2 mill request in
the March electorate.

The school district is able to say
that the bonding proposal will not
cost the homeowner anything extra
as the school board recently
learned that the tax increase was 11•••••
much larger than predicted. The
increased tax base allows the
school district to repay the prin-
ciple and interest without an in-
•
crease to the homeowner. The
increase in tax base was mainly •
due to new construction on homes •
•
and on commercial property.
• •
• •
• •
•
The proposed increase was re-
duced from 5V5 to 4 mills as
the enlarged tax base will pro-
vide slightly more funds with the
4 mill increase than the 5 1,•
mills would have provided on a
predicted smaller tax base which
was projected in accordance with
previous years growth.
