Boyar, chairman of the board of governors of the Israel Bond Or- ganization, returned Monday night from Israel where they held emergency discussions with Prime Minister Levi Eshkol on the ex- traordinary economic burdens of the present crisis. One thousand Chicago men and women, attending a special con- ference of the campaign cabinet of the Combined Jewish Appeal of Chicago Monday night, pledged $2,500.000 to the Israel Emergency Fund. DETROIT JEWISH NEWS The CJA has organized the most extensive campaign in the history of Chicago Jewry for the Israel Emergency Fund. It is aided by volunteers from all Jewish orga- nizations, including the Illinois Conference of Jewish Organiza- tions, which embraces 60 different groups. The Jewish National Fund of America, in response to an urgent call from Jerusalem, has under- taken to telephone every Jew in America in an urgent appeal for funds desperately needed to strengthen Israel's border settle- ments during the crisis. The call came from Jacob Tsur, JNF world chairman in Jerusalem. The JNF has decided to engage ' in a nationwide effort aimed at reaching every Jew by telephone to solicit his contribution to the JNF Save Israel Fund. Instructions have gone out to all JNF Councils through the nation to organize telephone squads in their respec- tive locality. MONTREAL MOBILIZES In an unprecedented action Montreal's Allied Jewish Commu- nity Services executive committee called for a Special Emergency Campaign for Israel. A total goal for this single cam- paign which will serve both local and Israel's needs was set tenta- tively at a minimum of 510,000,000. In London, Michael M. Sacher, treasurer of the Joint Palestine Appeal, reported Tuesday that the JPA Emergency Fund for Israel has brought in one week, 5.750,- 000 pounds ($13,700,000) and was approaching 6,000,000 pounds (SIG.- 800,000. Britain's Jewish population is 450,000 persons. The best results heretofore in collections for a nor- mal full year have been about 3,000,000 pounds ($8.400.000). A special Zionist Federation Friday, June 9, 1967-15 emergency conference has been called for Sunday to discuss fur- ther aid to Israel. An initial allocation through the Joint Palestine Appeal was in- creased by two thirds last week- end by a contribution totaling $3.000,000 by the Rothschild bank- ing family. The Danes swung into action Tuesday with rallies demanding aid to Israel. a fund-raising cam paign headed by former premier Vigo Kampman and denunciations of Egypt and the Soviet Union. The fund campaign was reported to have collected a substantial sum, but exact figures were not given. Leaders of all political par- ties addressed the rallies. A Social Democratic meeting heard a charge placing responsibil- ity for the new Middle East war on Egypt and a demand that Russia stop sending arms to the Arab states.
