Jimmie Katz who took over
Danny's Delicatessen in the Green-
field-Ten Mile Shopping Center,
now has what may be the begin-
ning of a chain. Jimmie tells the
story about the waiter who was
stricken and was sped to a hospital
emergency ward. Lying on the
table waiting for attention and in
great pain the waiter spied the
familiar face of a doctor passing
by. He pleaded, "Doc, I'm sick.
Please- do something." "Sorry,"
said the doctor, "this isn't my
table."

The Americana Theater on 9
Mile Rd. in Southfield is simply
and functionally beautiful. What a
change of pace from theaters years
ago that had to outrival each other
for garishness. It seems the ac-
cent today is on entertainment and
certainly, comfort.

Having breakfast every Sunday
a.m. is almost becoming a tradition
at Uncle John's Pancake House on
West 8 Mile Rd. Children, children
everywhere with their doting par-
ents or grandparents add up to to-
getherness. The kids always leave

Dining in the warm and relaxed
atmosphere at Mencotti's, Puritan
near Liverois, where the service
seems so personal — they have a
way to hear the great Nat King
Cole. A fellow at the next table
smiled at our seeming apprecia-
tion of the music and made men-
tion that he attended the Nat King
Cole Cancer Foundation dinner
dance in Hollywood last May on
what would have been Cole's 48th
birthday. Proceeds go to the Nat
King Cole Medical Library at
UCLA's medical center.

It once happened that the Chief

Rabbi of Warsaw was invited to
attend a city banquet, and found
himself seated next to the Bishop.
The latter, thinking to have some
fun with the old Jew, urged him
to try the hors d'oeuvres, which
consisted chiefly of spiced ham.
"Thank you, your Grace," said
the other, "but do you not know
that such food is prohibited by my
religion?"
"So?" remarked the hierarch.
"What a foolish religion! This ham
is so delicious!"
When the banquet was ended,
the rabbi bade a polite goodnight
to his neighbor, adding: "And
please, your Grace, be so good as
to pay my respects to Madame,
your wife."
"My wife?" cried the bishop in
i horror. "Do you not know that my
v religion forbids a priest to marry?"
"So?" murmured the r a bb i.
"What a foolish religion! A wife
is so delicious!"

One night Motke caught a bur-
glar crawling through the window
of his miserable hovel. When the
rascal tried to escape, Motke cried:
"No. please don't run away. Let
me join you in your search. Per-
haps your luck is better than
mine!"
