It
in, see why.
GREAT DOUBLE-THREAT en-
tertainment at Aged and Rare in
Harlan House is at the piano bar
. . . with Jerry Robinson from 4:30
to 7:30 p.m. and Joel Nash from
8:30 p.m. . . . Both fellows do a
terrific job of keeping the cus-
tomers entertained . . Reason
Charlie Dubin hasn't been at the
piano at Darbys the past few weeks
is due to his being operated upon
for an appendectomy . . . Charlie
is coming along nicely now after
quite a serious seizure . . . Don
Hill is still going big guns at the
Cafe Caprice piano in the Shera-
ton-Cadillac . . . Get up to see Don
. . . he does a swell hit on the new
and old ... Try and stump him on
some of those fabulous blues num-
bers from away back by Duke
Ellington, Count Basic and the rest
of them.
FOR EIGHTEEN years Mr. Lip-
schitz had lunched at the same
restaurant, and his order never
varied . . . a plate of borscht and
a package of soda crackers ... The
waiter never bothered even to ask
what Mr. Lipschitz wanted . . he
put the soup and crackers in front
of him, and not a word was spoken
by either . . . Suddenly one noon.
Mr. Lipschitz called over the head-
waiter and announced, "I want you
should taste that borscht!" . . . The
headwaiter was a bit shocked . . .
"For eighteen years now we've
served you the same borscht and
never heard a peep out of you," he
protested . . "Nevertheless," Mr.
Lipschitz insisted, "today I want
you should taste it." ... The head-
waiter shrugged his shoulders,
leaned over to taste the borscht,
then said„ "But where's your soup
spoon?" . . . Mr. Lipschitz smiled
triumphantly, lifted a finger, and
said, "Ah HAII!"
HERE'S HOW TO MAKE Coffee
Alaska . . . In tall, 10 ounce, frost-
ed or clear glass, place three to
four ice cubes, and one ounce of
brandy , . . Fill with hot coffee
to within one-half inch of top . . .
Then carefully float one scoop of
vanilla ice cream.
