To Mark 25th AMPAL Anniversary
Monday at Local Reort
Meetin
pg

The 25th anniversary of AM-
PAL, the American Israel invest-
ment corporation, will be observed
here at a meeting of stockholders
and friends, 7 p.m. Monday, at
Northland Inn.
A report on the recent anniver-
sary of AMPAL they attended in
Israel will be given by Emma
Schaver, Morris Lieberman and
Sidney Shevitz.
Alex Lothan of the AMPAL
headquarters also will participate
in the event.
Abraham Dickenstein, AMPAL
president, in a statement issued
this week, pointed out:
"The seven corporations which
are commonly known as the AM-
PAL Group are AMPAL-American
Israel Corporation, Israel Develop-
ment Corporation, Israel American
Industrial Development Bank, Is-
rael Securities Corporation, Israel
Purchasing Service, Canadian Is-
rael Trading Company, and AM-
PAL-Israeli Development Corpora-
tion Limited.
"Israel American Industrial De-
velopment Bank Ltd., jointly own-
ed by AMPAL and Bank Hapoa-
lim, B.M., in 1965 reported a 13
per cent rise in its assets, to about
$34 million from close to $30 mil-
lion. The bank continued to extend
long-term loans during 1965 to
hundreds of Israeli enterprises. At
the close of the year, the balance
of these loans totaled over $28,-
000.000.
"Today, the AMPAL Group's

loans and investments blanket over
70 enterprises ranging from chemi-
cal companies to citrus planta-
tions. With the AMPAL Group's
assets now exceeding $81,000,000,
a total of over $20,000,000 in new
loans and investments was made
to Israeli enterprises by AMPAL
and IDC in the course of last year,
bringing their stake in the coun-
try's economy up to a new peak
of nearly $50,000,000. Assets of

the AMPAL Group now are at a

record of $81,000,000.
"In view of Israel's

remarkable
economic growth, it is not surpris-
ing that the nation has economic
problems which require close vigi-
lance by the government. During

and after this adjustment period,
the AMPAL Group, by providing
loans and investments to vital en-
terprises, will continue to play an
important role in the country's
determined 'drive to achieve a
strong, stable economy."
