Allied Jewish Drive Reaches $5,109,000 Total;
Expect '67 to Be Second Best Campaign Year
The 1967 Allied Jewish Cam-
paign is headed toward the second
largest total in Detroit's history,
Alfred L. Deutsch, chairman, pre-
dicted.
With 10 days left until the vic-
tory dinner on May 10, campaign
leaders and workers are redou-
bling their efforts to make this
year's drive an historic one.
After Wednesday, an extensive
phone campaign will be intro-
duced to contact many hundreds
of contributors in the effort to
bring the campaign total as close
to the 56,000,000 mark as pos-
sible.
The total had risen to $5,109,-
000 at the fourth report meeting
held Friday for 92 per cent of the
amount raised last year. More
than 18,000 people have already
made their pledges. Indications are
that more people will contribute
this year than the 23,100 pledges
secured in 1966.
Detroit's largest campaign was
in 1957 when $5,918,000 was
raised. Second largest year was
