Lansing Shaarey Zedek
Planning New Temple

Ted Levy, chairman of t h e
building committee for East Lan-
sing's Shaarey Zedek Congrega-
tion, announces its new temple
will be constructed starting late
in May. The $500,000 structure
will be located in the northwestern
corner of the city and will serve
252 families.
As part of the fund drive for
the new facility, the present tem-
ple in Lansing will be sold.

The proposed building will
h a v e approximately 21,500
square feet of sanctuary, social
hall, classroom and office space.
The sanctuary will have 250
permanent seats with a sliding
partition opening into an adjoin.
ing social hall and stage area,
bringing the total seating capac-
ity to 600.
A huge truncated cone roof will
provide both natural and artificial

light for the sanctuary. A concrete
menora will stand just outside the
sanctuary area.
The temple serves both Reform
and Conservative Jews in the Lan-
sing area.

Third Seder Called Off

Shaarit Ilaplaytah, Survivors
of 1945, has called off its third
seder scheduled for this Sunday
because of conflict with the con-
cluding days of Passover.

Since its inception 20 years ago,
UNICEF has saved millions of
children's lives with an average
annual expenditure of $20,547,942.
This figure compares with $180,-
000,000,000 spent every year on

world armament.
