Historic Hagada
The Passover Hagada has inspired
artists to portray biblical and other his-
toric scenes as part of the story of
Exodus from Egypt. The accompanying
illustrations are taken from a famous
Hagada. The upper photo shows a page
from the illuminated Hagada of the
15th Century—the so-called "Second
Nuremberg Hagada"—showing Moses
unfolding the Sefer Tora. On the right,
Moses is shown in prayer on Sinai. The
photo also shows Moses removing
Pharaoh's crown. This Hagada is in the
Schockeri Library in Jerusalem.
