When the LOS ANGELES PHIL-
HARMONIC ORCHESTRA, under
the direction of 'Lubin Mehta, ap-
pears at the Masonic Auditorium
April 28, it will mark the first ap-
pearance of this fabulous musical
organization east of Denver. An-
other first for the LA Pliilhar-1
monk and its brilliant director is
the just signed recording contracts
with London Records ( British
Decca I. The Los Angeles Philhar-
monic—which previously has re-
corded for American Decca, RCA
Victor and Capitol Records—has
not had a recording contract since
1962. It will he the only American
orchestra on London-Decca labels.

brilliant young artist Eduardo Ri-

of the "Deer Dance" of the Yaqui

will he held by the OAK PARK
SYMPHONY 3:15 p.m. April 23 at
Oak Park High School. Mischa
Mischakoff, guest soloist, will play
Dvorak's Concerto for Violin and
Orchestra. A reception will follow

H. Arthur Feldman was sworn
into office last week as associate
municipal judge of Mount Clemens.
Feldman is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Morris Feldman.
In the race for the unexpired
term of Judge Frank E. Jeannette,
Feldman was the winner by seven
votes. It was his first bid for
public office and he will serve
until Dec. 31.
Feldman, a life-long resident of
Mount Clemens, received his LLB
degree from the Detroit College
of Law and during World War II
received two battle stars in over-
seas duty.
After the war, he was con-
nected with his parents' Arethusa
Hotel and Mineral Baths in
Mount Clemens, and he is now
in the full time practice of law.
He is an active member of the
Macomb Bar Association and the
State Bar of Michigan. He is
also a member of the Veterans
of Foreign Wars Post 1794, Bnai
Brith, Lions Club and the Action
Committee for Social Justice.
Feldman's wife Sylvia, w h o
teaches English at Mount Clemens
High School, taught the same sub-
ject at Durfee Junior High in
Detroit until 1955. She is t h e
daughter of Mrs. Becky Cohen of
Detroit and the late Harry Cohen.
They have three children,

NEW YORK (ZINS) — During
his visit to New York, David Ben-
Gurion met with a group of mem-
bers of the editorial staff of the
Day-Morning Journal and inquired
about the health of the 91-year-old
Morris Weinberg. publisher of the
newspaper. When informed that
Weinberg was in good health, en-
joying the sun in Miami and taking
an active interest in all problems
connected with the Yiddish daily,
Ben-Gurion replied: "I have a
`meshugas' about Israel and Mr.
Weinberg has a 'meshugas' about
publishing a Yiddish newspaper.
But these are 'insanities' that help
ensure the continuity of the Jew-
ish people."

partment of Michigan, and its

and cheer to the patients of the
Veterans Hospital at Battle Creek
Sunday.
