He would have been 78 on-- May 1. He wasp an accountant. and retired two years ago, when ' he and Mrs. Goldman settled in Los Angeles. Surviving b e - sides his wife, Frances, are two sons, Herbert and Albert; a Goldman daughter, Mrs. Leroy Goldman, and nine grandchildren. Mr. Goldman was one of the founders of the Jewish Community Council here and served on its executive committee. He was a member of the Zionist Organization and of the Detroit Historical So- ciety. • He had come to Detroit from Monroe, where he practiced ac- countancy, during World War I, hoping to enlist in the Jewish Legion. Upon coming here he was informed that Austro-Hungarian ex-officers like him were being re- jected for the Jewish Legion and he remained in Detroit. He was president of Pisgah Lodge of Bnai Brith, president of Bnai Moshe, headed the dedication committee when the present Bnai Moshe building was completed and was active in numerous other of- ficial capacities in the synagogue and Bnai Brith. He was an avid. reader and was deeply interested in art and sculpture. David Krause; Agent for Butchers' Group David Krause, a retired business agent for the Kosher Butchers Association of Detroit, died Sunday at age 85. He was a member of the Kosher Butchers Association of Detroit and the Bereznitzer Aid Society.\ Born in Russia, Mr. Krause was a 65-yer resident of Detroit. He lived at 18105 Oak Dr. Survivors are a son, Earl; four daughters, Mrs. Rose Klasky of Los Angeles, Mrs. Jack (Gladys) Shaprow of Flint, Mrs. Arthur (Ruth) Carnick and Mrs. Roland (Mildred) Martin; four brothers, Sam of Cleveland, Sander of Los Angeles, Julius B. and Jack of Miami Beach; three sisters, Mrs. Lottie Babcock, Mrs. Ann Lowen- berg and Mrs. Tillie Schlussel; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grand- children, Ida Becker, Widow of Hebrew Teacher Ida Becker, widow of retired Hebrew teacher Samuel A. Becker, died March 23, ten months after her husband's death. She was 91. Like her husband, Mrs. Becker was active in the Jewish National Fund, having been a pioneer worker in the movement. They were both members of Cong. Bnai taurant owner and food conces- Zion. Born in Russia, Mrs. Becker, sionaire at Metropolitan Beach, 85 Judy Lane, Birmingham, lived died March 24 at age 71. in the Detroit area 58 years.
