THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS • Friday, March 31, 1967-13 Israeli Art Exhibit to Be in Saginaw Beth Shalom Holds Bond Event "Young and Old Masters of Is- rael" is the title of an exhibition to be presented April 15-19 at Temple Bnai Israel of Saginaw. , The opening will be 7-9 p.m. April 15, Included are works by Anatoli Kaplan, Jacob Steinhardt, Tu: ia Beeri, Aharon Bezalel, Moshe Castel, Joseph Halevi, Moshe Gat, Simon Karen-liar and Herman Struck, The exhibit is presented by Safrai Art Gallery of Jerusalem. Among the art works are hand- blown Israeli glass, fashioned after the ancient Roman and Egyptian glass, wooden sculptures on bibli- cal themes and a collection of notepaper with reproductions on each sheet. Dr. and Mrs. Manuel Goldberger are chairmen of the exhibit. The ministry's - move, proposed in a bill now pending in the House of Commons, would make available grants of $350 a year for students in the private high schools, and 5450 for students taking post-sec- mdary courses in private schools. lowever, no provision was made or elementary school students under nongovernmental auspices. In this city, there are five Jewish day high schools. In a telegram to Quebec Minis- ter of Education Jean Jacques Bert- rand. the Jewish body. which is sponsored by the Canadian Jewish Congress. stressed: "Close to 4.500 children attend Jewish day schools in Montreal. imposing an unbear ably heavy burden on the parents and the community.
