Variety Will Spice Musical Evening for Jubilee Parley at Beth Abraham Synagogue Mrs. Frances Nusbaum, presi- dent of the New Jersey Region of the Zionist Organization of America, will preview plans and program of the forthcoming ZOA jubilee convention at a board meeting of the Zionist Organiza- tion of Detroit 8:30 p.m. April 11 at the Zionist Cul- tural Center, Southfield. The board meeting is open to all persons in- in at- terested tending the con- vention, to be held July 19-26 in Israel. Mrs. Nusbaum, who will discuss Mrs. Nusbaum "Holiday in Israel" will be in the area all day April 11 for persons who wish to discuss convention plans with her. A confrontation between sup- porters and opponents of "in- volvement" by world Jewry in the affairs of Israel will high- light one of the major plenary sessions of the '70th jubilee con- vention, according to the tenta tive agenda made public in New York. Mrs. Nusbaum, member of the national executive committee of the ZOA, just returned from a study tour of Israel. She is the first woman in the 70-year history of the organization to have been elected to the office of regional president. She is a former national board member of Iladassah and was the initiator and chairman of the first Israel Trade Fair ever to be held in the United States. The convention is scheduled to open in Jerusalem with a personal greeting by President Z a 1 m a n Shazar, who will on this occasion be presented with the coveted llerzl Award—Gold Medal of the ZOA. Prime Minister Levi Eshkol and Foreign Minister Abba Eban will head an array of Israel lead- , ers who will greet the assembled I delegates and guests, while from this country some of the fore- most political figures will come to Israel especially to address the assembly. Among the special convention events will be a concert and dance festival "under the stars" of the ancient amphitheater in Caesarea and pilgrimages to Mt. Herzl and to the Kennedy Memorial, cli- maxed by a reception tendered by the president of Israel. Reform Rabbinate to Devote Sermons to Dr. Isaac Wise Reform synagogues of the De- troit area will devote their services today and Saturday to the memory of the founder of Reform Judaism in America, Rabbi Isaac Mayer Wise. Rabbis in the area will de- liver pulpit messages on a subject related to his life and achievement. A committee of the newly or- ganized Federation of Reform Synagogues in the Detroit area has organized this city-wide ob- servance. Dr. Leon Fram of Temple Is- rael, who heads the committee, will devote his Sabbath eve sermon to the subject "The Promise of Liberal Religion." At Temple Beth El, Rabbi Morton M. Kanter will devote his sermon Saturday morning to "Rabbi Isaac M. Wise, Founder of Reform Judaism in America." Temple Emanu-El's Rabbi Mil- ton Rosenbaum will devote his Sabbath eve sermon to "Who Began Reform Judaism?" All other Reform rabbis in the area have announced similar topics for their Founder's Day sermons.
