Tarbut Foundation's New Text for Study of Hebrew Presented to Ben-Gurion NEW YORK-The first volume published by the Tarbut Founda- tion in a series of modern Hebrew texts specially edited for the bene fit of Hebrew students at the col- lege level was presented to David Ben-Gurion by Ralph Wechsler, a Tarbut Foundation board member, at a breakfast given in his honor. The publication of the first book, "Selected Essays of Ah d Ha'Am," and of the series to fol- low, was made possible by a grant to a special publication fund of the foundation provided by Ralph and Therma Wechsler. 'rmany Tuesday to mobilize public opinion and pol- itics against the neo-Nazi National Democratic Party (NPD). Otto Brenner, leader of the Iron and Steel Workers Union, one of the country's largest trade unions, called on all political parties and organizations to "isolate the NPD in political life." He stated that "there can never be anything in common between democratic and right-wing radical" groups. Ernest Haar, chairman of the Social Democratic Party in Stutt- gart, and a member of the Bun- destag, the lower house of par- liament, called for the formation of groups inside the Social Demo- cratic Party "to counter the in- fluence of the NPD." - Meanwhile, the split inside the NPD between the party's natiOnal chairman, Fritz Thielen, and the deputy national chairman. Adolf von Thadden, widened Tuesday. Thielen filed a libel suit against von Thadden, and Charged in an interview that von Thadden had connections with the West German secret service. He also said that the recent announcement that the Bremen chapter of the NPD had expelled him was u n t r u e. He charged that the report about his expulsion had been put out by von Thadden and "his right-wing radi- cal clique." Earlier, Eberhard Martens, chairman of the NPD in Bruns- wick, resigned from the party, citing policy disagreements. Walter Barth, Is1PD chairman in Hersfeld, similarly quit in the NPD. When asked why he had resigned, his only comment was "poor Germany:' Lothar Kuehne, Lower Saxony NPD chairman, against his expulsion. In another development. Cologne police were ordered by the West- phalia Interior Minister, Willy Weyer, to ban ,a planned demon- stration in Cologne against the party by a group of Dutch students.
