Judaism throughout the world, and

The credo set forth in that first issue has
guided-itejouriiiiistic standards through 25
years of successful publishing, and

The je)yish-News was founded by Mr. Philip
SlOrrinVitz, who for 45 years has been the
perceptive and energetic editor of Detroit's
Jewish press; and - '

Through hii.newspaper, Mr. Slomovitz has
strongly influenced our community toward
enlightenment, unity and inter-faith cooper..
ation.


NOW THEREFORE, I, Jerome P. Cavanagh, Mayor of the
City of Detroit, proclaim March 27, 1967 as

in Detroit an commend Mr. Slomovitz for
the excellence of his work and urge all
citizens to honOr the role of the Jewish press
in our city.
