AIMS AND PURPOSES: The Vaad Harabonim
aims to consolidate the spiritual life of the Jew and
fortify Jewish values. The main areas in which it
labors are as follows:
KASHRUTH: The Vaad Harabonim renders
reliable and uniform Kashruth supervision over all
establishments that cater to the distinctive needs of
the Jewish population, such as Kosher meat
markets, slaughterhouses, caterers and bakeries.
Precise and scientific information on Kosher prod-
ucts is readily available. The "C.O.R." is the local
symbol of Kashruth certification. Look for this
symbol as your guarantee of the Council Orthodox
Rabbis' supervision.
BETH DIN: In the tradition of our people, the
Vaad offers to shy individual or group an oppor-
tunity to settle differences before a Rabbinical Court
(Beth Din), rather than resorting to litigation in a
civil court. Inquiries regarding Jewish law, religion,
and ritual, are expertly answered.
FAMILY COUNSELING: a rabbi is always
available to counsel on marital problems, family
relations and personal adjustments.
RECORDS AND REGISTER: Records of mar-
riages, divorces, adoptions and conversions will be
kept for safekeeping and public availability.
LIBRARY: A rabbinic . reference library has
been established, and is available to the entire
Jewish Community.
AUDITORIUM: The auditorium is available for
Torah study and cultural meetings, lectures and she'
urim. The study of the "Dot Yomi" takes place
every evening, except Friday, from 8 to 9 p.m. A
women's study group takes place every Tuesday
from 1 to 2 p.m., in the auditorium.
PUBLICATIONS: Bulletins and brochures
bringing vital information to the community are
being published from time to time.
