Shaarey Zedek. The chapter, which is engaged in a membership enrollment campaign, is part of the na- tional organiza- tion which assists the worldwide network of voca- tional training schools. In the pro- clamation, Mayor Cavanagh cited ORT, with its 600 Cavanagh vocational instal- lations in 22 countries, for teach- ing "scores of thousands annually the modern trades that bring them from squalor and despair to dignity and security." The enrollment of thousands of new immigrant youths in two com- pleted Israeli ORT apprenticeship centers 'purred the ORT day cele- bration Wednesday, said Mrs. Brant, ORT Day chairman. Mrs. Brant said that the Jean- nette Orleans Gayl and Joseph Shapiro apprenticeship centers were enabling thousands upon thousands of young Israelis from underdeveloped countries to earn and learn at the same time, thus building their own in- dividual lives and providing desperately needed skilled man- power resources for the Israeli economy." She stated that the John F. Kennedy Apprenticeship Center was now being constructed in Jerusalem and that a fourth cen- ter was to be constructed in the Negev. .
