An experimental string quartet
by JOEL THOME, conductor-direc-
tor of the Chamber Players of the
Philadelphia Composers' Forum,
was performed at the Goucher Col-
lege Musica Moderna series in
Baltimore recently, Thome, 28, son
of Dr. and Mrs. Maurice Thome
of James K. Blvd., Pontiac, was
a member of the Israel Philhar-
monic Orchestra for three years
after graduating from the East-
man School of Music. While in
Israel, he saw a ballet he wrote
performed many times. He has

UJA Trainees on Campus

SAN FRANCISCO (JTA) — The
United Jewish Appeal and Bnai
Brith Hillel Foundation initiated a
jointly sponsored Student Leader-
ship Training Institute on the West
Coast by bringing some 30 Hillel
student leaders to a UJA planning
and policy conference here.
The students, from 14 California
and Arizona universities, attended
sessions of the UJA Western Re-
gion Leadership Conference at the
Fairmont Hotel. They also held
their own meetings to discuss the
practical problems of UJA student
drives on campus.
