NEWS' ORT Women Mobilizing for Big Day, 'Fiddler' Stars to Brighten PW Luncheon Starting Its Spring Membership Drive THE DETROIT JEWISH 16—Friday, February 24, 1967 Michigan R e g i o n, Women's American ORT, (Organization for Rehabilitation through Training) will join 550 other- chapters throughout the United States to celebrate ORT's 87th birthday March 15. ORT Day marks the be- ginning of the organization's spring membership drive. Only through accelerated mem- bership growth can a classroom place be provided for each of the many qualified applicants to ORT schools who must now be turned away for lack of accom- modations, ac- cording to Mrs. Ben Brant, vice chairman of membership. These are the growth of the teen- age population, the greatest migra- tion of Jewish people since World War II and the spread of the tech- nological revolution throughout the world. Chairman of the luncheon will be Mrs. Alexander -Schreier. - Jan and Lillian Bart, who re- corded the Yiddish version of "Fid- dler on the Roof," will be guest art- ists. Bart was commissioned to translate the entire score of "Fid- dler" into Yiddish. His recording is now the largest-selling Jewish record ever produced.
