Ruth Klein; Headed

Ruth Klein, past president of
the sisterhood of Temple Beth El
and of the Michigan- Federation
of Temple Sisterhoods, died Feb. 9
at age 64. •
Mrs. Klein served on the boards
of Temple Beth El and the Na-
tional Federation of Temple Sister-
hoods, as well as the national
youth commission of the Union of
American Hebrew Congregations.
For 14 years, - she served as a
chairman of youth activities at
Beth El.
Born in Cleveland, Mrs. Klein
was a Detroit resident for -31 years.
She lived at 19981 Briarcliff.
Survivors are her husband, San-
ford; a daughter, Mrs. William
(Kathryn) Lansky; her mother,
Mrs' Sam (Anna) Unger; a
brother, Ralf; and two grand-
children.

Dr. Martin Steinberg,
Osteopath in Livonia

Dr. Martin Steinberg, an osteo-
path with offices at 27452 W. Seven
Mile, Livonia, died Wednesday at
age 34.
Dr. Steinberg, 28514 Kalong,
Southfield, died in Botsford Gen-
eral Hospital, where he was a
member of the staff. He also prac-
ticed at Martin Place General
Hospital.
A 1958 graduate of the Kansas
City School of. Osteopathy, Dr.
Steinberg was a member of the
Michigan and. Wayne County. osteo- •
pathic societies and the American
College of Obstetricians.
He leaves his wife, Shirley; two
sons, Mark and Robert; his mother,
Mrs. Ann Kessler; and a brother,
Barry.

Dr. Sydney Levine, senior staff
surgeon at Sinai and Hutzel hos-
pitals, died Monday at. age_57.
Dr. Levine, 25961 Harding Sq.,
Oak Park, was a 1935 graduate of
the University of Illinois Medical
School. 'A native of Brooklyn, he
lived in - Detroit . 35 years.
He Was past president of the
Detroit academy for .- the - Surgery
of Trauma - and a fellow of the
American College of Surgeons. Dr..
Levine also belonged to Temple
ErnanuiEl and Pisgah Lodge of,
Bnai Brith.
Survivors are his wife, Ruth;
three sons, Ronald, Paul and Ken-
neth; his mother, Mrs. Dora Le-
vine; and a brother, Dr. Edward
Levine.

NEW YORK (JTA)—Rabbi Lip-
man Levine, a Talmudic scholar
who was spiritual leader of Agu-
dath Achim Anshe New Lots in the
East New. York section of Brook-
lyn for 42 years, died Monday at
the • Maimonides Medical Center
after, a long illness. He was 86.
Born in Moledechno, Russia,
Rabbi Levine studied at the famed
Yeshiva in Volozhin. He came to
the United States in 1923. He had
been a vice president of the Union
of Orthodox Rabbis of the United
States and Canada.
