Reader Sees Dangers
in U. S. Arms Sales to
Mid-East Countries

Editor, The Jewish News:
The writer just finished read-
ing in the press that a new ship-
ment of American arms and mili-
tary equipment has arrived in
Jordan.
It included arms and light and
heavy military vehicles, and this
is the fourth airlifted shipment
since mid-January. It says further
that this is a part of a deal be-
tween the United States and Jor-
dan, following an Israeli raid on
the Jordanian border.
Will soon celebrate my 91st
birthday and people consider
me as a good American, but, it
puzzles me how in the world
the United States of America
should supply Jordan with arms
and weapons, knowing that Jor-
dan and Israel are not on peace-
ful terms.
The press report states further
that F-104 Starfighter supersonic
interceptors would arrive soon to
help set-up "an effective air de-
fense system for Jordan."
In my opinion, and I lived a
long life, I know from experience,
when an individual or a nation
buys weapons, the results are
that the buyer will certainly use
those weapons against somebody,
and that means WAR.
