Seven cantors and their choirs
will be featured in the third Inter-
Congregational Zimria (Song Fest)
8:15 p.m. Feb. 23 at Cong. B'nai
David.
The participants include Cantor
Louis Klein and the Bnai Moshe
Choir; Rev. Israel Fuchs, Cantor
Shabtai Ackerman and the Beth
Abraham Choir; Cantor Harold Or-
bach and the Temple Israel Choir;
Cantor Reuven Frankel and the
Shaary Zedek Choir; Cantor Simon
Bermanis and the Ahavas Achim
Choir; and Cantor Hyman J. Adler
and the singing groups of Cong.
Bnai David.
The latter groups include the

sisterhood chorale, religious
school and synagogue choir.
The finale will feature the voices
of all seven choral groups and can-
tors, singing "I Shall Not Fear,"
composed by Rev. Fuchs and con-
ducted by Cantor Adler.
Tickets for the Zimria will be
sold at each participating . syna-
gogue.

Dr. Irving Lehrman
Heads Rabbinical

Dr. Irving Lehrman, rabbi of
Temple Emanu-El of Miami Beach,
has been named chairman of the
rabbinical advisory council oF. the
United Jewish Appeal, it was an-
nounced by Max M. Fisher of De-
troit, general chairman of the
nationwide UJA. Dr. Lehrman is
the brother of Rabbi Moses Lehr-
man of Cong. Bnai Moshe.
Dr. Lehrman,
who succeeds Dr.
David Golovensky
of New Rochelle,
is a graduate of
the Jewish In-
stitute of Religion
of New York
City, where he
received the de-
gree of rabbi and
master of Hebrew
literature. In 1958
he won the de-
gree of doctor of
Hebrew literature
Dr. Lehrman from the Jewish
Theological Seminary. He has been
spiritual leader of Temple Emanu-
El at Miami Beach since 1943.
In 1963, Rabbi Lehrman was
asked to serve as chairman of
Miami's Combined Jewish Appeal,
and when its goal was realized
Logb for the first time in many years,
he was drafted for a second term
as chairman. He • is currently
chairman of the federation's cam-
paign cabinet.
Dr. Lehrman is the 10th consecu-
tive generation of his family to
pursue the rabbinate. He is the son
of the late Rabbi Abraham Lehr-
man, spiritual head for 20 years of
the Glory of Israel Hebrew Insti-
tute of New York, and the grand-
son of the Hasidic "Brocker Rebbe."
