Nazis Robbed Jews of $29 Billion—Ebon JERUSALEM (ZINS) — Accord- ing to reliable estimates by ex- perts in this field, Jews have been robbed by the Nazis of $12,000,000,000 in funds and per- sonal possessions. The loss of in- come and labor of those mas- sacred amounts to an additional $17,000,000,000. These figures were given in a reply by Foreign Minister Abba Eban to a question put to him in the Knesset on reparations pay- ments from Germany. Eban re- , ported that the state of Israel and the Jewish victims of Nazi perse- cution throughout the world re- ceived from Germany reparation payments totaling 3,800,000,000 Ger- man marks. Israeli citizens have until now brought into the coun- try, in individual compensations, the sum of 4,000,000,000 marks. According to German govern- mental sources, Jews throughout the world received in the form of individual reparations a total of $15,000,000,000 German marks. Half of the young men and women have taken positions, or will take them upon completion of their training, with various Euro- pean Jewish community services, Broido added. The remainder, who come from Israel, North Africa and India, returned to their countries and took positions there. Broido explained that the fund was created primarily to help the European Jewish communities staff the institutions they had re- built with aid from the JDC and the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany. The scholarships are awarded by a special JDC committee in Geneva. MONTH Jan. 12 - Feb. 10 JNF BLUE BOX The JNF Blue Box is so much more than a fund raising medium. It consti- tutes our tangible link with the soil of Israel and is a living connection with the early days of Zionist history. It was On the last day of the memorable Fifth Zionist Congress on December 29. 1901, in Basle, that Theodor Herzl first asked for contributions towards the Jewish National Fund, himself placing the first coin from his own pocket into his hat. From then onward the idea expanded to embrace the whole of Jewry, with the first Blue Box manufactured in Vienna in 1902. In these days of massive direct ap- peals, isn't the Blue Box as a fund raising medium out-dated? No, the Blue Box is the method best suited for dona- tions by the masses embracing every Member of the family, young and old, and should become an automatic act in the preservation of the Jewish national Idea, a vivid educational means of re- minding our children of their history and destiny. How wonderful to think that in all the strains of Jewish history during 65 years, the little collection box of the Jewish National Fund is as alive today as ever it has been! The Blue Box links every home which it graces with Israel, and fits into the ipattern of Jewish life everywhere, for it affords everyone the opportunity to add his or her contribution to the Jewish National Fund. r _TOMORROW IS - JNF SABBATH CEILING $79.00 BRICK AND FRAME WALLS ALSO REDUCED C Non-settling materials custom Installed • Free _checkup for insulation on old & new horses ASK FOR MR.
